English Mastiff
Commission photo taken at a dog show i was working at in Nov 07. This girl unfortunately had a very bad experience with a sad excuse of a CGC (Canine Good Citizenship) 'judge' who uncalled for threw a bunch of pans on the ground right next to her when she was just a lil pup 'n scared her half the death. Now she's afraid of men... This photo was taken after the owner tried to get a show photo, but the poor dog fell too pieces with my dad being anywhere around. (he's the 'show' photographer, I'm the portrait photographer) - I told her to put her dog away for a short bit to calm down and we'd then take her outside and do a photo shoot where she can feel more secure. The owner had to be standing in the photo to get a good show stack out of the dog.. n while a little reluctant at first to order a major photo edit to the photo, decided to have me remove her from the image, with a lil nudge from her friends. That night I worked on it and the next morning when I gave her the print she almost started crying, not believing this is the dog (standing so regal n proud) that was so afraid of my dad taking her photo the day before. Before and after of the edit can be seen here > [link] Image ©copyright to =KaytanaPhoenix Do not copy, modify, distribute or sell the whole or parts of the image without permission from the creator. |

I wish I could have photographed the big brindle Mastiff that was at that show as well! He was a funny dog! I got to watch him n his owner play with a toy right in front of our photography set-up... if I wasn't so busy I'd taken some candid shots of them

Ohhh my gosh that would have been amazing. I have had two english mastiffs, including my boy now, and a neopolitan. They're such amazing dogs :3

And I can relate, I couldn't stand myself if I didn't have a dog to cuddle up beside me. We've had four at one point (We're at three at the moment), and it's a little crazy, but if you have the room for it, then it's amazing. :3
Awwww yeah, that's good, it's always nice to hear that a dog is going to a good home. It's so sad what some people can do to them.

I've been around quite a lot of dogs at one time because of my mom.. when growing up she had a litter of Tervuren pups (15) and a litter of Shipperkies (6, I think it was) and about 8 other dogs... all very well taken care of... living with my brother and the 1 dog is the least I've ever been around.. its kind of nice some days, but other days I wish she had a full time play buddy for when I'm busy working and can't play with her as much as she'd like (I've never known a big dog with so much energy! haha) ... other times I'm happy its just her.. she's so smart, 'n she problem solves so much that she's amazing to have as a single pet.. one of her fave pass times when she's bored n I'm busy is rolling her ball down the stairs so she can chase after it by herself, haha... 'n she learned that if she gets creative with her sitting up trick and gets uber cute with it she gets just about anything she wants.. the other day she sat up while sitting her butt on one step and had her hind legs on the step below it, she wanted her toy my brother was playing keep-away with her and doing that got her toy back... it couldn't have been comfortable by any means but she still did it all of her own free will! haha.. n she learned the word 'Cookie' ... hah, all I have to do is ask if she wants a cookie n she runs to her treat box waiting for whatever trick I'm gonna have her do
I really couldn't have asked for a better dog

Love the pose and the look of the shot. Just would have loved to see more light on the face.
